On May 7 Students of Saratov University took part in the All-Russian Victory Dictation dedicated to the 74th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The SSU delegation was headed by Appointed Rector, Vice-rector for Academic Affairs Igor G. Malinskii and Vice-Rector for Youth Policy and Organisational Work Anton V. Golovchenko.

In total, more than 2,000 Saratov citizens wrote the dictation. Anyone could participate in the event. After the dictation its members received special certificates. The main platforms of the Saratov Region were the Russian – My History Park and the Saratov Historical and Patriotic Museum of Military and Labour Glory. And there the dictation was written by two university delegations consisted of members of the SSU Undergraduate and Graduate Council and the SSU Office of Student Brigades. Moreover, the test was done by students and academic staff members of the university faculties, institutes, and colleges. Volunteers of Saratov University helped moderate the event.

The goal of the Victory Dictation was to make people study the history of the Great Patriotic War. Other project objectives include increase of historical literacy and patriotic education of youth.

Consisted of 20 questions the test lasted for 45 minutes. Its results will be announced on June 12 at the web-site диктантпобеды.рф. The winners will be chosen on three levels – local, regional, and federal ones.

‘I decided to take part in the project in order to check my level of knowledge about the Great Patriotic War because we must remember those times. Answering the questions is interesting because it is difficult to find the answer on the spot. We need such projects because it is our history, and the war influenced almost every family. We will always remember about the heroic deeds of our grandfathers and great grandfathers as they sacrificed their lives so that we would be able to live without any wars,’ shared the impressions a dictation participant, an SSU graduate, and the leader of the Zurbagan student pedagogical brigade Alyona Novikova.
