On July 10, the All-Russian graduation ceremony took place on the VKontakte webpage of the Russia – the Country of Opportunities project. The online marathon completed a series of graduation events that had been held in June. Among them are the #WithResearchinHeart social media project, which collected more than 5 thousand success stories, the Pass intellectual game, which united 300 student teams, and the Best Academic Group of Graduates online competition. At the beginning of July, there was launched a service for evaluating a resume from the Career Time project.

The graduation ceremony began with congratulations from the President of Russia Vladimir Putin.

‘The years at university, bright and unforgettable, are left behind. A completely new stage begins, where much, practically everything, will depend on you, where you will set tasks for yourself, set the bar for your future achievements and, I am sure, will be able to achieve a lot,’ the President said. ‘This year, in the Year of Science and Technology, the motto of the student graduation ceremony is With Research in the Heart. In the modern world, it is really very important to constantly seek and acquire new knowledge and skills, always be aware of the most advanced ideas in your sphere, be able to implement them, apply them, and this is true to almost all professions,’ the President of Russia addressed the graduates of universities. ‘Go for it, always learn, and do not stop dreaming. In Russia, all the ways, all the possibilities are now open to you. I believe in your future victories.’

The ceremony hosts, a champion of the High League of the Club of the Funny and the Witty (CFW), a TV presenter Vyacheslav Makarov and the head of the Mikhail Dudikov CFW team Alexander Shakhnazaryan, watched and commented on the best creative student performances of the 2020/21 academic year together with performers and bloggers. Live broadcasts took place with students from different parts of the country. In the Cultural Code section, creative performances of students from all over Russia were presented. In addition, the 9 best graduates who had shown great results during their studies were invited to the online marathon studio and awarded with mementos. In total, this year the number of graduates was about 900 thousand people.

Among the best students who participated in the online marathon was Julia Ilyashenko, a graduate of the Institute of History and International Relations, an activist of the Undergraduate and Graduate Student Council, SSU.

‘Of course, it was unexpected to see my photo among the 2021 distinguished graduates in the online broadcast of such a large-scale project as the All-Russian Student Graduation Ceremony. It is incredibly pleasant that the moderators drew attention to my publication, where I thanked my mentors and friends, due to whom my student life was very colourful and eventful,’ Julia shared.

The last part of the event became the evening concert show on Channel One hosted by Zhanna Badoyeva and Dmitrii Borisov. Ex-students received awards for the 2021 best graduates from the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitrii Chernyshenko, Presidential Press Secretary Dmitrii Peskov, Russian Minister of Science and Higher Education Valerii Falkov, and others. Each federal district elected its own winner. The award ceremony was interrupted by amazing performances of popular singers – JONY, Yolka, Artik&Asti, Mot, Dima Bilan, #2Mashi, Manizha, Diana Gurtskaya, and Hanna.

The video of a student of the Institute of Philology and Journalism Sophia Tsyganova hit the screen during Manizha’s performance.

‘I was very surprised when I saw myself on the TV screen! To be at least indirectly involved in Manizha's performance is very cool! Moreover, I really like this composition! I found out about that project and thought, ‘Why not? Perhaps I will be lucky’. And I was!’ Sophia said.

It is worth noting that a 2021 Graduation special section was created on the SGU.RU website so that anyone who wants to can get access to the event.
