Governor Granted Nominees and Winners of P.A. Stolypin Youth Award

In Saratov the winners of the annual P.A. Stolypin Youth Award were granted. According to the results, two SSU employees were among them. In addition, another representative of Saratov University was nominated for the competition.

Associate Professor of the Department of Open Systems Physics Svetlana Sheshukova became the winner in the For Outstanding Achievements in Science nomination. Receiving the award, she noted, ‘The laboratory where I work studies magnetic metamaterials. We are conducting experimental research using unique equipment which has no analogues in Russia yet.’

Dennis Yashin, a youth specialist of the Office of Student Educational Work and Youth Programmes, Chair of the Undergraduate and Graduate Student, SSU, a 1st-year master degree student at the Faculty of Economics, took the second place in the For the Contribution to the Development of Social Sphere, the Implementation of Youth Policy in Saratov Region nomination.

‘This is the third time I have taken part in the competition for the prize, and in the last two years I have managed to take second place in it twice. This encourages me to work even harder to reach new heights. I am glad that young people are supported in our region, we really appreciate this, it is important for us to know that our homeregion really needs us,’ Dennis said.

A nominee for the For Outstanding Achievements in Education award was Mikhail Lavrentyev, Assistant of the Department of Botanics and Ecology, the Faculty of Biology; a member of the Saratov Division of the Russian Botanical Society.

To remind, the P.A. Stolypin Youth Award is the highest distinction of the applicant's merits in various regional spheres. It was established by a decree of the Governor of Saratov Region and is awarded once a year as part of the celebration of Russian Youth Day.

Awarding the participants and winners of the competition, the Governor of Saratov Region Valerii Radayev pointed out, ‘Over the years, the Stolypin Award has acquired a special status. It is addressed to the young, the best of the best. Your achievements have once again confirmed that young people have something to show, they have something to offer, and in all areas.’
