Yekaterina Savina, a student of the Institute of Philology and Journalism, an editor and a reporter of the SSU Media Centre, a journalist of the SarInform regional news agency, has won the Governor scholarship in journalism.

The jury choose the best applicants twice a year, two young journalists become the winners – university students who have shown great results in the profession, and two veterans of journalism. Six veterans and five students have taken part in the competition for the second half of the year. The decisions on the nominated candidates were taken unanimously by the committee members. The results of the competition were summed up at the regional Ministry of Information and Press.

‘Winning the competition once again made me convinced that journalism is what I really want to do. After all, initially, when I entered the university, I planned to become a programmer, but in the first year I listened to my desires and decided to change it for journalism. Now I work to discover something new for myself and be able to convey useful information to other people in an interesting and accessible manner. Of course, I am glad that my work is recognised,’ Yekaterina commented.

One of the student works sent to the competition was the How to Develop Saratov article. The material can be found here.

To remind, this competition has been held by the Ministry of Information and Press of Saratov Region since 2004. In 2021, by the decision of the jury members, the monthly awards and scholarships have been increased for the first time in the last 10 years to 6 and 4 thousand rubles.
