On August 20, at the Dubki children recreational and educational centre located in Saratov we opened the regional summer school for talented children titled the Constellation. For the 32nd time the school unites talented students of secondary educational institutions of the region. This year, almost 300 high school and elementary school students have gathered there – they showed good results in international, all-Russian and regional olympiads, conferences, and competitions. From August 19 to August 29, the school participants can develop their skills with the help of more than 50 professors and tutors.
In 1989, the Constellation began with one group of chemists. Now eight more areas are available there now – mathematics, physics, computer science, history, linguistics, philology, journalism, and geography. Young geographers have joined the school for the first time this year.
In addition to traditional academic subjects, the school participants will be able to attend electives in Quantorium mobile technology park. It is equipped with a multifunctional complex for conducting experiments, modelling, and designing. In particular, the technology park includes devices for working in augmented and virtual realities. The curriculum consists of educational as well as recreational activities.
The opening session was attended by Rector of Saratov University Aleksei Chumachenko, Director of the Dubki Center Natalia Syromyatnikova, Principal of the Constellation Ella Zlobina, directors, deans and professors of the SSU institutes and faculties. The best students from different groups solemnly raised the flags of Russia and the Constellation school.
SSU Rector Aleksei Chumachenko congratulated the audience on the beginning of the 32nd season of the School.
‘We were waiting for this last summer, but due to known reasons we could not organise a session. However, we have overcome everything. We hope everything will be great. I would like to thank the regional Ministry of Education, professors, tutors, counsellors, and moderators for their work. Participants, you will get the main thing – communication with the best schoolchildren of the city and the region. You belong to them. Communication will give you a lot, these days will not be in vain. Why does Saratov University need it? The international scientific community has determined that Saratov University has been one of the Russian leading universities for many years. We are included in the rankings of the 20-30 best universities in the country. This is because talented people like you enroll to our university. We are waiting for you at the Open Days at Saratov University. And then – to study.’
Director of the Dubki Centre Natalia Syromyatnikova added, ‘I am pleased to meet the Constellation and rejoice at the opportunities that our country gives these children. In our time, there was no such programme. It is important that you exchange experience and communicate. We are glad to welcome you. Good luck.’
All activities in the camp are carried out in compliance with anti-epidemiology-wise measures.
