The most magical, warm, family holiday – New Year – will come very soon. And each of us has cherished plans and dreams. We all want our relatives to be healthy, harmony to prevail in the family, children to be happy, and everything in our life to change only for the better.

To the chimes, we make wishes like in childhood. But we already know for sure that a miracle does not happen by itself. It can only be accomplished by personal achievements, well-coordinated work, and the desire to implement the most daring plans. On the eve of the New Year, everyone remembers the most important events, meetings, words, and deeds.

The passing year has been truly eventful and productive. The Year of Science and Technology has gone down in the history of the country by launching large-scale research-to-education and educational projects and hundreds of bright events that have taken in all regions. It was important for us to make science accessible and understandable to every person, speak about modern technologies and the latest innovations that affect our lives. I am sure that this year science has become closer to schoolchildren and students.

Another significant result of the year is that we have brought science closer to the regions, provided conditions for young people to be able to implement their projects outside Moscow and St. Petersburg and feel comfortable working.

Together we have set high standards which now has to be not only held but also raised. A scientific decade is ahead of us, which means new ambitious projects and large-scale tasks.
