On September 16, the directors of institutes and the deans of faculties of Saratov University visited the SSU laboratories at Bldg. VIII. Young scientists told them about their research, presented their scientific and innovative products developed under strategic projects of the Priority 2030 programme.

The participants of the presentation visited the Biomedical Photoacoustics Laboratory, the Magnetic Metamaterials Laboratory, the Remotely Controlled Theranostic Systems laboratory, and also got acquainted with the research of the Scientific and Technological Centre, the Scientific and Medical Centre, and the Smart Sleep Laboratory.

The guests listened about world-class research in spin-wave transport and the development of technology for developing new devices based on magnetoelectric materials, saw the Mandelstam-Brillouin spectroscopy complex, which has no analogues in the world.

The staff of the Scientific and Medical Centre told them about the technology of effective targeted drug delivery in humans and animals. The new method will allow taking into account the individual characteristics of the patient, reduce side effects, and increase the duration of the drug.

The photoacoustic flow cytometers in vivo are aimed at early diagnosis and treatment of oncological, infectious, and cardiovascular diseases using pulsed laser radiation.

During the presentation, the researchers commented on a catalyst for the synthesis of acrylic acid nitrile with a unique control of the catalyst in real time. The research opportunities in this direction have expanded, including due to the new DRON-8T X-ray diffractometer installed under the Priority 2030 programme. The staff of the Innovation and Technology Cluster shared the results of their work in ensuring import substitution.

The staff of the Micro- and Nanoelectronics Scientific and Technological Centre demonstrated systems widely used in logistics, nuclear power, oil and gas industry, and agriculture.

The directors and deans found out about the Teacher in the Educational Paradigm strategic project. A model of continuous training of a school teacher was presented: from a pedagogical class to a pedagogical internship.

The scientists of the Smart Sleep Laboratory shared their achievements in research on the mechanisms of cleansing brain tissues from toxins during sleep. The laboratory is engaged in the development of night therapy and breakthrough portable smart technologies for managing the restorative sleeping properties.

The geographers showed the digital platform of administrative management of territories developed by them based on distributed databases.

After that, Rector Aleksei Chumachenko met with the deans of the faculties and the directors of the institutes. He summed up the preliminary first-year results of the Priority 2030 university programme, reminded about the principles of forming strategic projects of the programme, about targets and management system, commented on the plans for the next year, and highlighted the role of everyone in tasks implementation. The rector noted how important it was to demonstrate the university achievements and conduct such excursions, including for students. Aleksei Chumachenko suggested that students of different courses should get acquainted with scientific achievements, laboratories, unique equipment, and scientists. ‘It is important to show that SSU is a centre of scientific thought. Surely, philologists, lawyers, sociologists, and psychologists will all be interested to see how the university lives,’ he pointed out.
