Department staff

Department of Programming Technologies was opened in 2008 at SSU Faculty of Computer Sciences and Information Technologies based on Mirantis company. Teaching staff of the department includes highly qualified professionals from the company, among which are associate professor of the department. Head of Saratov Mirantis branch, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences German Narkaitis on whose initiative the department has been established.
 
The ain of the department is to provide not only theoretical, but also practical knowledge to studetns, best of which get the opporunity to be trained and then employed by development centres created by Mirantis for financial, telecommunication, high-tech and IT companies.
 
Mirantis IT acknowledges the importance of classic higher education and gives young people  a chance to live up to their potential in their hometown. Under this program the company closely cooperates with Saratov leading universities (SSU and SSTU).
 
As a rule, after the completion of the main course at a higher education institution, members of the company staff continue their education by engaging in research work. Today, 1/3 of Mirantis IT staff have graduated or continue their studies in a postgraduate training program.  There are five candidates of physical and mathematical sciences working in the company, two of them being associate professors from SSU Department of Programming technologies).
 
Engineers of Mirantis IT not only engage in development of world-class IT prodcuts with the help of advanced technologiesm but also in development of cloud computing expertise while teaching and transferring their practical knowledge and experience to students.  For this purpose such courses as Cloud Computing, Technologies of Team Software Development, Software Testing, Programming in Python, Java Programming, etc. have been created. These courses can be included into the curriculum or can be taken as open seminars.
