Dmitrii Kovshov Received Governor Scholarship in Journalism

Dmitrii Kovshov, a master’s degree student of the Institute of Philology and Journalism, a photographer of the Office of Media Communications, SSU, has received a scholarship of the Governor of Saratov Region in journalism for the second half of 2023.

This contest is aimed at students of universities and colleges who take courses of higher and secondary vocational education. To apply for the Governor's scholarship, students have to fulfil a few requirements – have top marks and achievements in the professional field, as well as actively participate in the social and cultural life of the university.

Since the beginning of his studies at university, Dmitrii have actively taken part in the SSU student media projects (published his materials in the Sweet Milk magazine, the Saratov State University newspaper, collaborated with the official media of the university, became one of the authors of the StudStory successful student project, as well as the Look Around, the SSUattheMoment ones and others).

Working in the Office of Media Communications, SSU, Dmitrii Kovshov have prepared more than 500 photo reports and more than 100 videos, created about 50 photo collections on various topics, which were published on the website of Saratov State University and in the official accounts of the university in social networks. Dmitry's photos have been published more than once in the federal media with the news about the SSU scientists.

During his studies, he was awarded with the letters of appreciation of the Ministry of Information and Mass Communications of Saratov Region and Rector Aleksei Chumachenko for active work and coverage of the university's life on the SSU website and social networks, as well as for his contribution to the development of the university media.

Dmitrii has received a letter of appreciation from Director of the Institute of Philology and Journalism Lyudmila Borisova for his help in directing the video and taking photos of the 24th Khlestakov Festival and for the development of student self-government, as well as a letter of appreciation from the Saratov regional organisation of the All-Russian Trade Union of Education because Dmitrii had prepared photographic materials at the Regional Autumn Spartakiad of Education, Science, and Student Youth.

In April 2023, Dmitrii Kovshov won a special prize in the Photography category at the 22nd Youth Delphic Games. He took third place at the SSU scientific student conference and became the winner in the History, Theory, and Practice of Journalism. Part 2 section at the All-Russian Conference of Young Scientists entitled Philology and Journalism in the 21st century, dedicated to the 125th anniversary of Professor Tatyana Akimova and the 100th anniversary of Professor Vera Arkhangelskaya.

‘When I won in this competition, I had a new feeling. Now, as I realised what had happened, I can say that I am pleased that I was able to win and receive such a serious award. I want to express my gratitude to the Institute of Philology and Journalism, as well as to the Office of Media Communications, SSU, for giving me the opportunity to try my luck,’ Dmitrii said.
